About

The building where the museum is located was built in the middle of the 19th century (there is no exact data). The museum's premises on the 1st floor are occupied by a hall that tells about the activities of local residents of the royal fishermen, about cooperage and a unique collection of cooperage tools, about rare exhibits found on the territory of the village and donated to the museum fund, the second small hall tells about the famous inhabitants of the village of Lovtsy.

In 2022, a Merchant's Lounge was opened on the second floor of the building — new museum rooms that tell about merchants and significant events in the history of the village. In one of the halls there is an exhibition of paintings by the Honored Artist of Russia Gennady Pavlovich Sorogin, who painted paintings in the village of Lovtsy.

Museum programs are held in the Merchant's Lounge: "Merchant tea drinking", "Fishing stories of the last century", "Etiquette of merchant tea drinking", etc. The hall's exposition includes furniture from the late 19th century, tableware, and other exhibits.

In addition to excursions, the museum hosts many museum events. A lot of work is being done to replenish information about the history of the village (work in the archives). Exhibitions and master classes are held. The museum employee participates in local history conferences at the municipal, regional and international levels, and also conducts extensive educational work on the history of the village and the Lukhovitsky region.

In 2024, the museum became the winner in the museum competition "The Best Rural Museum of the Moscow Region".

In 2024-2025, the museum implemented the educational project "School of travel blogger Dementiy Tsipulin" with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives: 300 Lukhovitsky schoolchildren visited the Zaok villages of Dedinovo, Lyubichi, Lovtsy, Beloomut and rural museums.

Rybatskaya Sloboda Museum in Lovtsy village

"Rybatskaya Sloboda" is the name of the museum in the village of Lovtsy, consonant with the name of the place of resettlement of the "royal fish fishermen" from the banks of the Oka River on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The exhibition contains several stories of the village at once: the first fishermen resettled by Peter the Great in St. Petersburg, merchant families, details of the life of peasants with a unique collection of cooperage tools, the history of fellow villagers who went to the Great Patriotic War, and modern celebrities of the village.
